Shortbus

Everyone aboard the Shortbus!

There is a mild spoiler alert. I won't reveal the ending but some of the plot.

This is John Cameron Mitchell's first film since Hedwig & the Angry Inch. He doesn't star in this one. The star is actually Sook Yin Lee of CBC/Muchmusic fame.

If you haven't seen Hedwig, do yourself a favour and rent it now, I'll wait.

Good, now wasn't that worth it?
Sook Yin plays a sex therapist who is pre-orgasmic. That means she's never had one, not that she's about to have one.
Another of the many storylines is Jamie & James, a gay couple who are looking to maybe add another (I won't go into too much detail or I'll spoil the plot).
Justin Bond plays himself and is the mistress of Shortbus, the salon where 'regular' folks can go and be themselves and party.

By regular, of course, I mean my kind of peeps. Some of you might say freaks.

This is a funny movie, a sad movie but mostly it's about hope and the lack of it.

Think Garden State with Natalie Portman. This movie will make you feel the same way, there's just a lot more penis in it.
I mean a lot more...
Apparently if you do enough yoga, you can learn to 'satisfy' yourself.

All in all you need to see this movie. Unfortunately it's only in 2 cinemas in Canada right now.
